resident: Rocco Romano

Ping-Pong is welcoming Rocco Romano as our next resident! A musician and interdisciplinary artist, Rocco blends improvised ambient sounds, filmic textures, and electronic elements with scientific exploration and visual art.

During his residency, Rocco will be working on an expanded version of his project “Garden Hermits”, a synaesthetic music performance and installation. Building on his research into nature’s microscopic details, the work incorporates live microscope footage, immersive soundscapes, subtle lighting, and even scent diffusers to create a multi-sensory environment. Real-time visuals and spatial sound guide the narrative, inviting audiences into a layered journey through the hidden ecologies of microorganisms.

The 45-minute live performance features Rocco on guitar, synthesizers, and electronic devices, weaving together ambient improvisation and electronic sound. Collaborators support him in operating the microscope on stage, ensuring that both sound and image unfold organically in real time.
