Reflections: Diane Sharp- Nachsin

My time at the Ping Pong Residency was incredibly productive, inspiring, and transformative. During my residency, I continued research for a six-year creative project exploring my family's DNA and ancestry, which serves as the foundation for a new work for my dance company, SHARP based in Philadelphia.

The residency provided the time and space to immerse myself in both artistic creation and historical research. Exploring Germany allowed me to better understand the places my ancestors may have lived and the historical events that shaped their lives, adding new depth and perspective to my work.

I am deeply grateful to Jacqueline, our host, whose generosity and hospitality made us feel immediately welcomed into Berlin's vibrant arts community. The opportunity to connect with her and her remarkable network of artists enriched my experience in meaningful ways.

Thank you for providing an environment that encouraged both artistic exploration and personal discovery. My time at the Ping Pong Residency expanded my perspective as both an artist and an individual, and its impact will continue to resonate throughout my creative practice.
